How To Make Mussels in Cider Cream Sauce Recipe
Tender mussels cooked in a creamy sauce with a touch of sweet apple cider.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of live mussels, scrubbed and debearded
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup of apple cider
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon of fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Crusty bread for serving
Instructions

In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add in shallots and garlic and sauté for about 2 minutes or until fragrant.

Pour in the apple cider and let it come to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes or until the volume has reduced by a third.

Add in the heavy cream and thyme leaves and stir to combine. Let it simmer for another 2 minutes.

Add mussels to the pot and cover with a tight fitting lid. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until the mussels have opened.

Discard any unopened mussels and season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.

Divide mussels into serving bowls and pour the cider cream sauce over them. Serve with crusty bread for dipping.
