Ingredients

  • 1 cup of white rice
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 1 celery stalk, diced
  • 1 teaspoon of cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Cook rice according to package instructions and set aside.

  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Add the diced onion, minced garlic, bell pepper, and celery to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

  4. Stir in the cajun seasoning, paprika, cayenne pepper, dried thyme, dried oregano, black pepper, and salt. Cook for another 2 minutes.

  5. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and let it cook for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.

  6. Add the cooked rice to the skillet and mix well until everything is evenly combined. Cook for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.

  7. Sprinkle sliced green onions on top before serving.
