Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup white rice
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Instructions
-
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into crumbles.
-
Add the diced onions, bell peppers, celery, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
-
Stir in the paprika, cayenne pepper, dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional minute to allow the spices to bloom.
-
Add the white rice to the skillet and stir to coat it with the mixture.
-
Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
-
Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.
-
Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.
