Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 oz salami, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until softened.

  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Stir in the garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  4. Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. Add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. Stir in the salami and cook for another 5 minutes.

  7. Add the cooked spaghetti and toss until well coated with the sauce.

  8. Sprinkle with fresh basil leaves and serve hot. Top with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
