How To Make Eldon’s Spaghetti Bolognese Recipe

A classic, hearty meat sauce served over spaghetti noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1 lb spaghetti noodles
  • Parmesan cheese, grated (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the red wine and stir to combine.

  4. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer, uncovered, for 1 1/2 – 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

  5. Cook spaghetti noodles according to package instructions. Serve with the bolognese sauce and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
