How To Make Chef John’s Barbecue Chicken Recipe

Ingredients
- 4 bone-in chicken thighs
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions

Preheat grill to medium-high heat.

In a bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag and pour half of the marinade over them. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Remove chicken from marinade and discard the used marinade.

Place chicken on the grill and cook for 10-12 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) using a meat thermometer.

During the last few minutes of grilling, brush the remaining marinade on both sides of the chicken thighs and cook until caramelized.

Remove chicken from grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
