How To Make Khatti Dhal

Ingredients
- 1 cup yellow pigeon peas (toor dal)
- 2 cups water
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions

Rinse the yellow pigeon peas and soak them in water for 30 minutes.

In a pressure cooker, add soaked pigeon peas, water, chopped tomato, chopped onion, slit green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, and turmeric powder.

Pressure cook for 4-5 whistles or until the lentils are cooked and soft.

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.

Add the cooked lentil mixture to the pan and bring it to a boil.

Add salt to taste and simmer for 5 minutes.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

Serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
