Ingredients

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt, and brown sugar.

  3. Stir in the buttermilk, dried cranberries, raisins, and chopped walnuts until just combined.

  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together.

  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it onto a greased baking sheet.

  6. Using a sharp knife, make a cross-shaped incision on top of the loaf.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
