How To Make Marmalade

Delicious citrus marmalade made from fresh oranges, with a tangy and sweet flavor.

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 2 hours
Total: 2 hours 20 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 large oranges
  • 2 lemons
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges and lemons thoroughly. Cut them into thin slices, removing any seeds.

  2. Place the sliced citrus fruits in a large pot and pour in the water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to a simmer.

  3. Cook the fruit mixture for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  4. Add the sugar to the pot and continue to cook for another hour, stirring frequently.

  5. Test the consistency of the marmalade by placing a small amount on a chilled plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, it is ready. If not, continue to cook for a few more minutes and test again.

  6. Once ready, remove the pot from heat and allow the marmalade to cool for 10 minutes. Skim off any foam that has formed on the surface.

  7. Pour the marmalade into sterilized jars, leaving a small headspace at the top. Seal the jars tightly.

  8. Let the marmalade cool completely before storing in a cool, dark place.
