How To Make Seville Orange Marmalade
A tangy and sweet preserve made with Seville oranges, perfect for spreading on toast or using in recipes.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 kg Seville oranges
- 1 lemon
- 1 kg granulated sugar
- 1 liter water
Instructions
-
Wash the oranges and lemon. Slice them into thin rounds, removing any seeds as you go.
-
Place the sliced oranges and lemon into a large pot. Add water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour or until the fruit is soft.
-
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Transfer to a food processor and pulse until desired texture is reached.
-
Return the mixture to the pot. Add sugar and stir until dissolved. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for 1 hour or until the marmalade reaches a gel-like consistency.
-
While the marmalade is cooking, prepare sterilized jars by washing in hot soapy water and then placing in a hot oven for 10 minutes.
-
Once the marmalade is ready, carefully pour it into the sterilized jars. Seal the jars tightly and let them cool completely before storing in a cool, dark place.
