How To Make Lulu’s Simple White Loaf
A classic, homemade white loaf that is easy to make and perfect for sandwiches or toast.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 500g strong white bread flour
- 7g sachet of fast-action yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 300ml warm water
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, and salt. Make a well in the center and gradually pour in the warm water.
-
Mix the ingredients together until they form a dough, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes or until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in a greased loaf tin and cover with the kitchen towel again. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
-
Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan) and bake the loaf for 30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
-
Remove the loaf from the tin and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
