How To Make Gingerbread Train

A delightful gingerbread train that is perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add in the molasses, milk, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.

  6. Divide the dough into four equal parts. Roll out each portion of dough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.

  7. Cut out train shapes using a gingerbread train cookie cutter or a template.

  8. Place the gingerbread train shapes onto a greased baking sheet.

  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned.

  10. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely before assembling the train.
