How To Make Day of the Dead Biscuits
These Day of the Dead biscuits are a sweet and festive treat, perfect for celebrating Dia de los Muertos.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Icing sugar (for decoration)
Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.

Add the cold butter pieces and using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, mixing until a dough forms.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for a few minutes until smooth.

Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.

Use Day of the Dead-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough.

Place the cut-out dough shapes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Allow the biscuits to cool completely on a wire rack.

Once cooled, decorate the biscuits with icing sugar to create Day of the Dead skull designs.
