Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. In the same skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Gradually whisk in the flour until smooth and bubbling, about 1 minute.

  3. Slowly pour in the almond milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps. Continue cooking and whisking until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.

  4. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried sage, cooked sausage, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  5. Serve the dairy-free sausage gravy over biscuits or toast.
