How To Make Cinnamon Rolls
Delicious and gooey cinnamon rolls that are perfect for breakfast or dessert.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1-2 tbsp milk (for the glaze)
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
-
In a small saucepan, warm the milk and melted butter until warm to the touch.
-
Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and add the egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
-
Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12×9-inch rectangle.
-
Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough.
-
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the buttered dough.
-
Starting from one of the long sides, tightly roll up the dough into a log shape.
-
Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 8 equal parts.
-
Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish and cover with a kitchen towel. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
-
Bake the cinnamon rolls for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
-
Once the rolls are done, drizzle them with the glaze.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
