A delicious, chocolatey twist on the traditional Italian sweet bread, perfect for serving to 4 people.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 50g cocoa powder
- 7g active dry yeast
- 50g granulated sugar
- 100g dark chocolate, chopped
- 100g butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 175ml warm milk
- 50g raisins
- 50g candied orange peel
- powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, yeast, and sugar.
-
Add the chopped dark chocolate, melted butter, eggs, and warm milk to the dry ingredients. Mix well until a sticky dough forms.
-
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Add the raisins and candied orange peel to the dough, and knead for another 2 minutes until they are evenly distributed.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
Transfer the risen dough to a greased panettone mold or a deep, round cake tin.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool in the mold for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
