  • 1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup cold beer
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup sliced red onion
  • 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until smooth.

  2. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  3. Dip each fish fillet into the batter, then carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

  4. In a small bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, and hot sauce to make the creamy sauce.

  5. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.

  6. To assemble the tacos, spread a spoonful of the creamy sauce on each tortilla. Top with a piece of fish, shredded cabbage, cilantro, red onion, and diced tomatoes.

  7. Serve the fish tacos immediately, and enjoy!
