How To Make Anchovy and Rosemary Focaccia Bread Recipe

A savory and aromatic bread with anchovies and fresh rosemary.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary
  • 12-15 anchovy fillets
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Add in the warm water and olive oil, and mix until a dough forms.

  2. Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured surface until it becomes smooth and elastic.

  3. Place the dough in a greased baking tray and press it down to form an even layer.

  4. Use your fingertips to create small dimples all over the dough.

  5. Place the anchovy fillets on top of the dough and sprinkle the chopped rosemary and coarse sea salt over it.

  6. Cover the tray with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.

  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. Bake the focaccia bread for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  9. Remove from oven and let it cool down slightly before slicing and serving.
