  • 1 sheet of frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, diced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface until it’s about 1/8-inch thick.

  3. Carefully transfer the rolled-out pastry onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. In a bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.

  5. Arrange the apple slices in an even layer on top of the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.

  6. Sprinkle the sugar mixture evenly over the apple slices.

  7. Dot the diced butter over the apples.

  8. Fold the edges of the puff pastry over the apples, creating a rustic crust.

  9. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.

  11. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.

  12. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
