Preparation: 10 minutes
Cooking: 6 hours (including freezing time)
Total: 6 hours 10 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Chocolate shavings, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the brewed coffee and sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.

  2. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.

  3. Pour the coffee mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe dish.

  4. Place the dish in the freezer and let it freeze for about 2 hours.

  5. After 2 hours, use a fork to scrape and stir the partially frozen coffee mixture, breaking up any large ice crystals.

  6. Return the dish to the freezer and repeat the scraping and stirring process every 30 minutes for the next 4 hours or until the mixture is completely frozen and has a granular texture.

  7. To serve, scoop the coffee granita into serving glasses or bowls. Top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings.

  8. Enjoy the refreshing and icy coffee granita!
