How To Make Grandma’s Gingersnaps

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for rolling)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the molasses and egg, and mix until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar to coat.

Place the coated balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cookies are set and lightly golden brown.

Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
