How To Make German Lebkuchen

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts
- 1/4 cup chopped candied citron
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a small saucepan, melt butter. Add honey and brown sugar. Stir until well combined and sugar is dissolved.

Pour the honey mixture into the flour mixture. Mix well until a sticky dough forms.

Stir in the almonds, hazelnuts, and candied citron.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a round, flat disk.

Place the disks onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown on the edges.

Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Dust the Lebkuchen with powdered sugar before serving.
