How To Make Old German Honey Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves.

  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Add the egg and honey to the butter mixture and mix well.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.

  6. Roll the dough into small balls and place them onto a greased baking sheet, spacing them apart.

  7. Flatten each ball slightly with the bottom of a glass.

  8. Bake for 10 minutes or until the cookies are lightly golden brown around the edges.

  9. Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes.

  10. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
