How To Make Prune & Chocolate Torte

Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 150g unsalted butter
  • 150g pitted prunes, chopped
  • 100g granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 50g all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and line a round 8-inch cake pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate and butter together over a saucepan of simmering water. Stir until smooth and well combined. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture, stirring continuously.

  4. Sift in the flour and salt, then fold gently until just combined. Stir in the chopped prunes.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs clinging to it.

  6. Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, remove from the pan and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
