  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the heavy whipping cream. Begin and end with the flour mixture.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.

  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Once cooled, frost the cake with whipped cream or your desired frosting.
