  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a round cake pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. In a separate large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Once cooled, frost or decorate as desired.
