Simple Vanilla Cake Recipe

How To Make Simple Vanilla Cake

Frosted with buttercream, you can never go wrong with a moist vanilla cake made from simple ingredients for a delightfully sweet dessert.

Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 45 minutes



  • ¾cupunsalted butter
  • 1⅓cupssugar
  • 3large eggs
  • 2tspvanilla extract
  • 1cupwhole milk,at room temperature
  • cupsflour
  • tspbaking powder
  • ½tspsalt
  • *classic buttercream frosting,(see Recipe Notes for recipe)


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and butter and flour 2 8-inch cake pans.

  2. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt then set aside.

  3. To your stand mixer add the butter and sugar and beat them together for 2 to 3 minutesuntil light and fluffy on medium speed, then add in the eggs 1 at a time 15 seconds apart along with the vanilla then lower the speed to low.

  4. Add the flour mixture and milk, alternating a little of each at a time.

  5. Pour into the cake pans evenly and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

  6. Once cakes are cooled frost them with the buttercream frosting.

  7. Serve and enjoy.
