  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup mixed dried fruits (such as raisins, cranberries, and chopped apricots)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. In a separate bowl, beat together the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.

  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.

  5. Fold in the dried fruits and nuts.

  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.

  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
