How To Make Chocolate Rum Cake

- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup rum
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk and rum, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth. Fold in the dark chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
