How To Make Golden Rum Cake

Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup golden rum
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.

Stir in the golden rum and mix until well combined. Fold in the chopped pecans, if using.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar before serving.
