Ingredients

  • 1 store-bought sponge cake
  • 1 cup of ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup of chopped candied fruit
  • 1/4 cup of chopped dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup of chopped pistachios
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon of rum (optional)
  • Fresh berries, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.

  2. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the ricotta mixture.

  4. Cut the sponge cake into thin slices.

  5. Begin assembling the cake by placing a layer of sponge cake on a serving platter.

  6. Spread a layer of the ricotta mixture on top of the sponge cake.

  7. Sprinkle some chopped candied fruit, dark chocolate, and pistachios over the ricotta layer.

  8. Repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used, ending with a layer of sponge cake on top.

  9. Drizzle the rum over the top layer of sponge cake (optional).

  10. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set.

  11. Garnish with fresh berries before serving.
