  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
