Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 package lemon Jell-O
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 container whipped topping
  • Lemon zest for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.

  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and water. Mix until smooth.

  3. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

  4. In a separate bowl, dissolve lemon Jell-O in boiling water. Stir in cold water.

  5. Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the cake.

  6. Pour Jell-O mixture slowly and evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.

  7. Let cake cool completely, then spread whipped topping over the top.

  8. Garnish with lemon zest.

  9. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
