How To Make Lebanese Mountain Bread
Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 ½ cups warm water
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, and salt.
-
Add the olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a baking stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat up.
-
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and roll each portion into a thin round shape, about 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter.
-
Carefully transfer the rolled dough onto the preheated baking stone or baking sheet.
-
Bake the Lebanese Mountain Bread for about 5-7 minutes, or until it puffs up and turns golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool before serving.
