How To Make Dutch Stroopwafels
Thin waffles with a sweet caramel filling.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup warm whole milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup dark corn syrup
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
Instructions

In a large bowl, mix the flour, melted butter, milk, egg, granulated sugar, yeast, cinnamon, and salt until a smooth dough forms.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for 30 minutes.

Preheat a waffle iron on medium-high heat.

Divide the dough into small balls that fit inside the waffle iron.

Cook each ball in the waffle iron for up to 2 minutes or until golden brown.

While the waffles cook, prepare the filling by melting the corn syrup, brown sugar, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Once melted, spread the mixture over one waffle, and then sandwich with another waffle on top.

Repeat step 7 with remaining waffles.
