Ingredients

  • 4 slices of Italian bread
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  2. Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil.

  3. Bake for 5-7 minutes, until the bread is slightly crispy.

  4. In a small bowl, mix together the chopped tomatoes, minced garlic, and chopped basil. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Spoon the tomato mixture onto the bread slices and drizzle with a little olive oil.

  6. Bake for an additional 8-10 minutes, until the topping is heated through.

  7. Serve hot or at room temperature.
