How To Make Ina Garten Mac and Cheese Recipe
Classic and creamy mac and cheese recipe with a crunchy breadcrumb topping.

Ingredients
- 1 pound elbow macaroni
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 cups grated cheddar cheese
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Cook macaroni according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.

In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

Add flour and continue to stir until smooth.

Gradually whisk in milk and cream until mixture is smooth.

Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 2 minutes.

Add grated cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper, and continue to stir until cheese is melted.

Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.

Pour mac and cheese into a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top of the mac and cheese.

Bake for 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
