How To Make Fisherman s Cioppino Recipe

A classic Italian-American seafood stew with a tomato base and plenty of fresh seafood.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (28 oz.)
  • 1 bottle of clam juice (8 oz.)
  • 1 cup of white wine
  • 2 cups of water
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 pound of shrimp, shelled and deveined
  • 1/2 pound of scallops
  • 1/2 pound of mussels, cleaned
  • 1/2 pound of clams, cleaned
  • 1/2 pound of firm white fish, cut into chunks
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for serving
  • Crusty bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

  2. Add onions and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add garlic, oregano and red pepper flakes and cook for another minute.

  4. Add tomatoes, clam juice, white wine, water and salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes.

  6. Add shrimp, scallops, mussels and clams and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until the seafood is cooked through.

  7. Add the white fish and cook for another 2-3 minutes until it is cooked through.

  8. Serve hot, topped with fresh parsley and with crusty bread on the side.
