Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp bourbon
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix together the milk, egg, and bourbon.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F.

  6. Using a small cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  8. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
