Total: 35 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel and grate the potatoes. Place them in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out any excess moisture.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.

  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

  4. Take a handful of the potato mixture and shape it into a patty. Place it in the hot oil and press it down with a spatula to flatten it slightly.

  5. Cook the hash browns for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Remove the cooked hash browns from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil. Repeat with the remaining potato mixture.

  7. Serve the homemade crispy hash browns hot with your favorite breakfast sides.
