Total: 55 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 ½ cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1/4 cup flax seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.

  3. Add the honey and buttermilk to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for a minute until it becomes smooth.

  5. Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. In a small bowl, mix together the sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and flax seeds. Sprinkle the seed mixture on top of the bread, pressing it gently to adhere.

  7. Use a sharp knife to make a cross-shaped incision on top of the bread.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
