Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tbsp honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut it in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk and honey.

  5. Stir just until the dough comes together.

  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times.

  7. Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thickness.

  8. Use a biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  10. Serve warm and enjoy!
