Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 2 cups shredded Emmental cheese
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • bread cubes, vegetables, and meats for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the minced garlic.

  2. In a saucepan, heat the wine and lemon juice over medium heat until hot but not boiling.

  3. In a bowl, toss the shredded cheeses with the cornstarch until coated.

  4. Gradually add the cheese mixture to the hot wine, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.

  5. Stir in the nutmeg and black pepper.

  6. Transfer the cheese mixture to the prepared fondue pot and place over low heat.

  7. Serve with bread cubes, vegetables, and meats for dipping.
