How To Make Cheese Fondue Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1/2 pound Gruyere cheese, grated
  • 1/2 pound Emmental cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Assorted dippers (bread cubes, steamed vegetables)

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the garlic clove.

  2. Pour the white wine into the fondue pot and heat over medium heat until hot.

  3. Gradually add the grated Gruyere and Emmental cheeses, stirring constantly until melted and smooth.

  4. In a small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in the lemon juice.

  5. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the melted cheese mixture until thickened.

  6. Stir in the nutmeg and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Transfer the fondue pot to a tabletop burner and keep warm.

  8. Serve with assorted dippers such as bread cubes and steamed vegetables.
