How To Make Pickled Peppers
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 pound of mixed bell peppers (red, yellow, and green), sliced
- 1 cup white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
-
In a medium saucepan, combine the white vinegar, water, sugar, salt, garlic, black peppercorns, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
-
Add the sliced peppers to the simmering liquid and cook for 5 minutes, until slightly softened.
-
Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
-
Transfer the pickled peppers and liquid to a jar or container with a tight-fitting lid. Make sure the peppers are completely submerged in the liquid.
-
Refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
-
Serve the pickled peppers as a side or use them to add flavor to sandwiches, salads, or other dishes.
