How To Make New Mexico Red Chile Sauce

Ingredients
- 8 dried New Mexico red chile peppers
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
- 2 cups of water
Instructions

Remove stems and seeds from the dried chile peppers. Place them in a bowl and cover with boiling water. Let them soak for 10 minutes.

In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the garlic cloves and sauté until fragrant.

Remove the chile peppers from the water and transfer them to a blender or food processor. Add the sautéed garlic, salt, oregano, cumin, and water. Blend until smooth.

Pour the sauce into the skillet and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
