How To Make Dr Pepper BBQ Sauce

Make meat more flavorful with this Dr Pepper BBQ sauce that’s infused with the flavor of Dr. Pepper, crushed tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, and spices.

Ingredients

  • 1tbspvegetable oil
  • ½yellow onion,diced
  • 12ozDr. Pepper,(1 can)
  • 15oztomato sauce,or crushed tomatoes
  • ¾cupbrown sugar,packed
  • ¼cupapple cider vinegar
  • 2tbspWorcestershire sauce
  • ½tspkosher salt
  • ½tsppaprika
  • ¼tspcoarse ground black pepper
  • 1tspcornstarch

Instructions

  1. Add the oil to a Dutch oven on medium heat.

  2. Add the onions and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes until they start to brown, stirring occasionally.

  3. Add in the Dr. Pepper, tomato sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper and stir until combined.

  4. Cook for 30 to 35 minutes until the mixture has cooked down by half and thickened.

  5. Use hot over briskets or chicken, and enjoy!
