How To Make Basic Mashed Potatoes

- 2 lbs. Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper

In a large pot, cover potatoes with cold water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 20 minutes.
