How To Make Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake Recipe

A soft and moist cake with a cinnamon sugar swirl and a crunchy topping, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp of cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp of unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 8-inch square baking pan.

  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the egg and beat until well incorporated.

  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.

  5. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix well.

  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling.

  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.

  8. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter.

  9. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon sugar.

  10. Swirl the batter with a knife to create a marbled effect.

  11. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter and flour. Sprinkle the mixture over the cake.

  12. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  13. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.
