How To Make Easter Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

  4. Gradually add in the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. If desired, divide the dough and mix in food coloring to create different colors.

  6. Roll out the dough on floured surface and use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.

  7. Place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  8. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden.

  9. Optional: Decorate with sprinkles while cookies are still warm.
